In the world of luxury real estate, craftsmanship often defines a property’s soul, and for Marcos Román, this philosophy has been at the heart of his journey. As a second-generation leader of Román Windows & Doors, Marcos continues the legacy of his father, who established the family business 45 years ago in Casares. Today, the company is celebrated for its ability to merge traditional carpentry with cutting-edge technology, offering bespoke solutions that elevate the standard of luxury living.

A Family Legacy, Built to Last

“My father started the company in a small workshop at the entrance to Casares,” Marcos shares. “From a young age, my siblings and I were immersed in the craft, learning what it takes to bring a vision to life.” Over the decades, the business grew from its humble beginnings to become a benchmark of excellence. By 1998, Román Windows & Doors had moved to its current state-of-the-art headquarters, with additional offices in Marbella and Madrid. Today, a team of 150 artisans and professionals continue to carry the Román family’s values forward.

Every project undertaken by Román Windows & Doors is a unique journey. “We take on the most complex challenges and turn them into works of art,” Marcos explains. The company’s portfolio is a testament to this, featuring iconic properties like Villa Cullinan in La Zagaleta, celebrated for its intricate woodwork and exclusive fittings. Other notable projects include El Jardín del Tenis in Estepona, a villa that showcases classic elegance through latticework and English-inspired hardware, and a Finca Cortesín villa, with its signature Mil Rayas oak doors.

“We’re proud to have worked on properties like Finca Polo in Sotogrande, where the design required curved jambs to follow the architectural lines of the ceiling. These projects are not only a technical challenge but a testament to our ability to blend innovation with tradition.”

A Philosophy of Personalisation

For Marcos, the client relationship is paramount. “Every project begins with listening—understanding their needs and desires,” he explains. From international athletes to renowned artists and business leaders, the company’s clientele expects nothing less than perfection, as well as discretion.

This dedication to personalisation extends to every detail. “Luxury is about creating spaces that reflect a client’s personality and lifestyle,” Marcos says. Whether it’s large-format glazing that brings nature indoors or bespoke cabinetry that integrates wood, leather, and metal, the aim is always to marry form and function.

Embracing Innovation and Sustainability

While rooted in tradition, Román Windows & Doors is firmly committed to the future. “We were the first in Spain to manufacture European-style windows,” Marcos notes. Today, sustainability drives every aspect of the business. From using wood sourced from sustainable forests to generating energy with photovoltaic panels, the company ensures that its creations are as eco-conscious as they are beautiful.

“Clients are increasingly prioritising energy efficiency and environmental impact,” Marcos observes. Wooden windows have become a cornerstone of sustainable luxury design with their natural warmth and superior insulation.

The Future of Luxury Design

Looking ahead, Marcos is excited about the evolution of the luxury property market. “Trends like branded residences—homes developed in collaboration with global luxury brands—are shaping the future,” he says. At the same time, mid-century design elements, vibrant wood finishes, and a return to natural materials are creating new opportunities for creative expression.
